Private transactions

Monzero inherits established privacy-focused transaction technology, including ring signatures, stealth addresses, and confidential amounts.

Consumer hardware

RandomX proof of work is designed for general-purpose CPUs, keeping participation open to ordinary computers.

Independent chain

XMZ has its own genesis block, network identity, address prefixes, ports, and monetary policy. It is not Monero.

Run your own daemon, create a fresh Monzero wallet, and mine directly to an address you control. Solo mining rewards the machine that finds a block; rewards unlock after 60 blocks.

Windows mining

Start mining and appear in the live statistics.

Use the Windows command-line package from the download section. Extract the complete ZIP before running anything; do not launch files from inside the ZIP.

Start and synchronize the node
Double-click start-node.bat, allow the Windows Firewall prompt, and leave the window open. The launcher connects to node.monzero.org:6174 and the local RPC listens on 127.0.0.1:6175.

Create a fresh wallet
Run start-wallet-cli.bat, create a Monzero-only wallet, and record its recovery seed offline. Never reuse a Monero wallet or seed.

Start CPU mining
Open Command Prompt in the extracted folder and run start-mining.bat YOUR_MONZERO_ADDRESS 2. Replace the address and choose the number of CPU threads you want to use.

Enable optional website statistics
Ask the project operator for a miner-stat ingest token and save it as %APPDATA%\Monzero\miner-stats-token.txt. Run start-mining.bat again; it starts the reporter automatically, and your anonymous hash rate should appear above within about 60 seconds.

Not appearing? Confirm the node is synchronized and mining is active, then inspect %APPDATA%\Monzero\miner-stats-reporter.log. The token is private: do not post it publicly or place it in a distributable ZIP.

Run stop-mining.bat to stop mining. The website removes a miner after three minutes without a successful heartbeat.

DEX development status — 26 September 2026: Isolated Litecoin–XMZ settlement and refund paths pass, and Dogecoin timelock/refund primitives have test evidence. Additional coin previews and read-only recovery visibility are implemented. Complete GUI execution, broader recovery coverage and remaining chain integrations are unfinished. These development changes are not included in pre15 downloads; real-money DEX trading remains disabled. See the roadmap and whitepaper for verified scope and remaining gates.

Experimental Windows graphical wallet and command-line builds for Windows and Linux x86-64. Packages include the matching node, checksums, protocol whitepaper, release status, and upgrade guidance. The recursively complete source archive contains the exact pinned core commit and submodules.

Unsigned and independently unaudited experimental prerelease software. Pre15 stays on the pre10–pre14 chain; consensus identity and chain rules are unchanged. Wallets now open only Monzero wallet files and always use XMZ with 11 decimal places, and wallets created before their node was reachable now find their funds. The Linux build runs on current distributions (glibc 2.35 or newer). All 23 ctest suites passed; the Windows command-line package passed native Windows 11 tests, the graphical wallet was tested on Windows 11, and the Linux package passed on Ubuntu 24.04. Independent reproduction, signing, and an external audit remain outstanding.

Questions

Before you begin.

Why is my mining balance still zero?

Monzero currently uses solo mining. You receive a coinbase reward only when your machine finds a block; simply hashing does not create a gradual balance. A found reward remains locked for 60 blocks.

Is Monzero the same network as Monero?

No. Monzero is an independent experimental chain with a different genesis block, network ID, ports, address prefixes, ticker, and monetary policy.

Can I reuse my existing seed?

No. Create a new wallet and seed exclusively for Monzero. Reusing keys across forks can seriously damage privacy.

Is this a production release?

No. Genesis pre15 is experimental, unsigned, and unaudited prerelease software. It uses the pre10–pre14 chain and is incompatible with pre9 chain data.
